Golden Delicious is an all purpose apple. Golden Delicious is yellow skinned apple and very mellow and sweet to the taste. In the produce industry they are normally called "Goldens". Golden Delicious was originated in Clay County, West Virginia in 1914.It is prone to bruising and shriveling, though, so it needs careful handling and storage.

Golden Delicious Apples are best for eating with salads, pies, baking, freezing and also very good as a base for apple sauce. They are great to be eaten raw. Golden Delicious is a very delicate apple has a nice sweet and juicy flavor. In salads and other dishes, their flesh stays white longer than other apples.

They're harvested in September and October and available throughout the year, being kept in specialty refrigerated C.A. rooms.
